Carolina Place Mall is a large curved regional shopping destination in Pineville, NC. Its spacious interior features two stories, plus a third office space in Belk. The mall opened in 1991 with 4 anchor stores: Belk, Dillard's, JCPenney, and Sears. In 1993 Hecht's joined but, Sears closed in 2019 and Macy's in 2017. In their place the mall has opened Dick's Sporting Goods + Golf Galaxy combo store and the Southern Lion marketplace in the former Sears space. The mall was actually built on land initially considered for SouthPark mall. It was developed by Carter & Associates and is currentyl owned and managed by Brookfield Properties. There are about 120 stores and a food fourt, Barnes & Noble, REI, Harper's Restaurant, and Dave & Buster's.
