SouthPark Mall, located 5-6 miles south of Uptown Charlotte, is the largest mall in the Carolinas, the 10th largest on the East Coast, and the 28th larges in the US. The mall opened in February 1970 and was developed by the Belk and the Ivey families, later became a part of the Simon Property Group. There’s also a planned $21 million revitalization of the park with new restaurants, retail spaces, enhanced bandshell, and improved pedestrian access, expected to kick off in 2026 and finish by 2027.
